I really hate to call this a re-release of the website, though I cannot think of a proper title to replace it with. It may be true that we did hold out on new articles and photography for a good month and a half. And yes, the design and format are definitely upgraded to a point that this could be construed as a re-release. But the fact of the matter is that RATT FINK MAGAZINE did not go anywhere. We were not forced to shut down only to be re-constructed and set up on another web hosting site. We simply decided that we were better than we thought we were.
Does that sound cocky and conceited? Well it shouldn't.
Being an online publication in New York you learn quickly that there are many outlets across Manhattan for people to look to for their news and entertainment and literature. You learn that, as much as it sucks, you are a small fish in a gigantic pond on a small island. One could say that ninety percent of the population in NYC have come for the same reason. To make it here so they can make it anywhere. I'm sure I speak for my entire staff when I say we are no different. We want to excel in our fields, whether it be writing, photography, or art.
In order to do so, and this goes for anything in life, you need to constantly believe you have what it takes, but you can certainly do it better than what your doing now. Every piece you write can use a little editing, no matter how many times you and your faithful editors have looked over it. Every photo can be better, even if you are positive you have executed every angle and idea. I believe it was Hunter S. Thompson who once wrote that if you are "determined and persistent" you will attain your goals.
When we say that we are better than we thought we were, it means that we can do better for ourselves and our publication. When we click on the whosetheratt.com icon in our favorites toolbar we want to know that whatever pops up in the web browser will look its best, read its best, and ultimately be the best we have to offer. So please take the time and click on all of the blue section icons on the left of the page and get a good look at the fruits of our labor. And let this "re-release" inspire you to be better than you thought you were at whatever it is you are here to do. And if you feel a little cocky and conceited after stepping up your game, well, as far as were concerned, you deserve to be.
